Electrical and fire safety compliance
There are a number of procedures in place to ensure that all business operations are both lawful and compliant with important safety regulations.
Generators
You will need to submit an application to Electricity Services in order to operate the following generators:
- A standby or backup generator
- A small-scale embedded generator that is synchronised with the City’s electrical network

Open burning
If you would like to conduct an open burn of any material on any land or premises, you will need to apply for a permit from the City.
Fire safety inspections
Business premises are required to comply with the minimum fire safety standards and, if applicable, the regulations associated with the storage of dangerous goods such as LP gas.
